Today we made it to Dawson Creek which is mile 0 of the ALCAN highway if you are heading to Alaska. Because of the way we chose to drive it, it became our exit rather than entry point. It was also the point when we started to go home. Don and Barb headed off from here to Edmonton, AB and then to Madison, but not in one day. Karen and I admit that it was a bittersweet moment. Our journey will continue to Dallas, but no longer on the ALCAN. The trip could not have been better nor could there be any better traveling companions than Don and Barb Showers and Ken and Debbie Merten. Although Don and Barb split off, it will be four more days before the Mertens head to Calgary and the plane that will take them home to North Carolina. We will be driving through Canada to Regina and then south to Dallas.
Karen and Debbie walked the Spiritual Labyrinth in Grand Cache sending healing thoughts to Debbie's mom who is recovering from surgery.
We took a hike to Sulphur Gate that included the Split Rock. Even after a steady diet of cinnamon rolls and chocolate chip cookies, Karen was still able to squeeze through the rocks....barely!
