With much regret, we leave Denali National Park and head to Talkeetna, the town that is the staging area for people wanting to climb Mt. McKinley and tourist town for those souls who have braved the Princess Cruise Line and others and are in dire need of Alaskan trinkets. We had hoped to camp in Talkeetna, but it was crammed full of RV'ers. We chose instead to stay in a wonderful campground just outside of town. After we set up camp there, we realized that we were 1 mile from the Alaskan version of Sturgis. Fortunately, we didn't hear them or the sirens.
Karen surprised me with this t-shirt so that I could boast of being one of the lucky few.
We drove into Talkeetna to have one heck of a good meal at the Wildflower restaurant.
We found this silly sign down by the river that runs through Talkeetna.
