Day 36 August 10 Talkeetna, AK to Anchorage, AK

We drove to Anchorage today.  Not everyday is filled with excitement.   This was our chance to get our oil changed and the car washed.   Our campground is in the middle of Anchorage, and its main claim to fame is that it is across the street from COSCO.   After our assorted chores were done, we ventured into the city.   We found a wonderful fair and farmers' market with great food tents as well as trinkets and produce stalls.   After the fair, we walked down to a river where the salmon were running.   You can tell from this picture that some of the many fishermen have been successful.

Next, we visited one of Anchorage's large city cemeteries and in this one, these tusks mark one of the graves.   Weird!?!

We never seem to get away from this Airstream touring group.  We have shared our campgrounds with them in several of our stops.   They are heading next to Seward, and, you guessed it, so are we.

Karen is poring over tomorrow's route so that we will know where we are going and what we will see.  Unaccustomed as she is to this role, she has done magnificently.

When the ice cream truck rolled through our campground, you would have thought we were a bunch of little kids running in the direction of the truck's music....ok we are.   The hand-dipped chocolate brownie was particularly good.
