Day 37 August 11 Anchorage, AK to Seward, AK

We were going to spend two nights in Anchorage, but we felt like we had seen enough yesterday.  So off we went to Seward.  We had wanted to spend 3 nights here so that we could go fishing one day and glacier cruising the next.  We have used superlatives too much on this trip, but each new adventure brings even more spectacular vistas.   We had been told of a stream just 40 miles north of Seward where the salmon were running.   We stopped and walked down this lush trail until we came to the stream.

This is a few that greeted us.  We felt like we were watching a segment of some National Geographic Special.   The salmon (Sockeye, we think) were spawning and dying right in front of us.  It was a little hard for us to watch what must have been beautiful fish ending their life cycle like this.

We found Stoney Creek Campground by chance on the outskirts of Seward.   Much preferred from the cramped quarters of the city parks.   We were just 4 miles from town and had stately trees, green grass, and a rolling river by that provided us with great white noise.

We spent the afternoon making  our cruise and fishing reservations.  Here are just a couple of views of our sites.
