Day 29 August 3 Tok RV Village, Tok AK to Rivers Edge RV, Fairbanks, AK

Today was our drive to Fairbanks, Alaska.   Karen had two stops she wanted/needed to make.   The first stop was Delta Junction, the official end of the ALCAN Highway.  From our perspective, it continued on to Fairbanks, but from this point on it is called the Richardson Highway.  At the Information Center, they have the requisite reference to the large mosquitos that inhabit Alaska (John is being bitten by them as he types).

Here is the official marker for the end of the ALCAN.  We still have much of it to drive on our way home, as we drove some of the way on the Cassiar highway.  The idea was to not drive too much of the way on the same road.

The second stop Karen (and Debbie) wanted/had to make was North Pole Alaska (a suburb of Fairbanks).   Here are a few shots that one is required to make while visiting the North Pole.

The Chena River flows through the center of Fairbanks.  There was a wonderful river walk along it by the Visitors Center.   We found this arch of antlers along the way.   It brought out the inner moose in us all.
