Day 39 August 13 Seward, AK to Tolsona Wilderness Campground, AK

We left Seward a day earlier than expected due to the rain and canceled cruises.   Today would be one of our longer drives (280 miles) and because of the rain, not many pictures.  We stopped for lunch at an Alaskan State Park.  It was clear enough for us to get a picture.  Most people were smiling inspite of being waterlogged.

What we enjoy about our drives are the unexpected.   We came around one corner and saw a sign pointing to the Glacier Overlook Church.   What Glacier?   Another 200 yards down the road it came into view.  It is behind Barb.   To give a little perspective, it is 4 miles wide at its terminus and  26 miles long.

A close up.

Another thing we see a lot is people writing messages in stones in the sand/gravel along the road.   Some are more creative than others.

We finally arrived at our campsite:  Tolsona Wilderness Campground just outside of Glennellen, AK.

It is situated in a swampy area on the Tolsona River...translate to mosquitos!   One of the more brilliant contributions to this trip was Don Showers finding this screen shelter called "The Clam".   It is large, easy to set up, and mosquito proof.

Karen loved the flower boxes and planters everywhere in  Alaska and Canada.

John's personal favorite is this flower bed which is right beside the trailer toilet dump...hence the hearty flowers.

John manages to find some time for his martini.   It may look like he's cooking, but no.
