Day 40 August 14th Tolsona Campground (outside of Glennallen, AK) to Tundra Campground Tok, AK

It is our last full-day in Alaska (sob, sob) and we wanted to have one last shot of us in our t-shirts in front of the Aliner.  Tomorrow we will again go through customs, flash our Passports, and switch out our US for Canadian currencies.  It has been a glorious time for all of us.   The immensity of the state leads to all the usual jokes.  Our favorite is the outline of the state of Texas nestled totally within the outline of Alaska with the caption, “Alaskan’s think Texas is cute!”

This picture was taken inside of one of the gift shops in Tok.  She liked the “Welcome to Alaska” sign.

This is the entry to the Tundra Campground.  Karen is fascinated with the birch logs and the burls they develop.   Several of the log cabins have huge posts with burls that would measure more than 4 feet in diameter.  Fortunately for you, I am still in the US and do not have to give these dimensions in meters.   Tomorrow, we will spend a few more days not knowing the temperature without doing some sneaky conversions.

More wood carvings.
