We arose early on Day 6 and left the RV park at Garryowen, MT and headed to the Little Bighorn National Park. There were a lot of turnouts on the drive through the battlefield. It was clear that Custer had made a lot of mistakes, but the final resolution for the Indians was never in doubt....more soldiers would come. The scenery is beautiful and the huge herds of antelope and horses were awe inspiring. It was hard to imagine these high plaines filled with millions of buffalo.
Off to Townsend, Montana and the Hellgate campground which is located just outside of Helena Montana. We stopped in Townsend to pay homage to our friends of the same name...never enough touristy things to do.
Another tough night spent along a great lake with a glorious sunset. We are having a ball so far. We have encountered our first mosquitos on the entire trip. They are sending our blood type forward to their relatives....yikes!
We've decided to add a map at the bottom showing our days travels for the grandkids.
