Day 17 July 22 Jasper

We have all certainly fallen in love with Jasper, Alberta.  Our campsite, Wapiti, fits our every romantic idea of what we would like in a campground.  It is rustic, remote, next to a roaring river, surrounded by tall pines, private, and, as we now know, inhabited by bears.  Don won the gold star for seeing the first one down by the dump station.

An early morning coffee by the Athabasca River drowns out all sounds and leaves a person thinking he is all alone.

Don Showers and John can sniff out a bakery from miles away.   This one was especially good and busy.  We met a lot of interesting people, and Karen became close friends with Weber, a Welsh corgi.

Jasper is filled with these hanging baskets.  The flower lovers of our group, and who isn’t one, took many pictures so that they could identify each type later.  Thank you for digital imaging and the delete button on the camera.   It is hard to remember the film days.

Weber, the corgi from above, had recommended a walk around the Lac Beauvert which is where the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is located.  He certainly knew his stuff as we had a great afternoon…especially listening to the mournful cry of the loons on the lake.
